It’s that time again for the largest sporting event in America, the Super Bowl. However, there’s something different with this year’s Super Bowl XLVI. This year, the City of Indianapolis has one upped itself from last year’s event by having an enormous social media command center. A team of analysts and techies will be working out of a giant 2,800-square-foot place for the sole purpose of managing fan’s Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets comments. The social media team will tweet directions to fans in search of parking, direct visitors to Indianapolis’s best attractions, and stand by to provide information in case of a disaster.
For example, a fan won’t need to tweet, “where can I find parking?” to get help; Raidious operatives will be able to pick up on a general phrase such as “parking sucks” to offer assistance in the general Indianapolis vicinity.
Taulbee Jackson, the CEO of Raidious, said, “Social media is just how people interact now.” Raidious has summoned to the task of managing their digital communications for this year’s Super Bowl event from Monday to the conclusion of Super Bowl XLVI on February 5th. What Mr. Jackson said is true, it is how people communicate nowadays and this is a great idea, but is it enough or is it slightly overkill? Will this now be a standard for future events? Well time will tell.
