Web Technology Trends & Highlights of 2014

Web Technology Trends & Highlights Ready ArtworkThroughout this year, we developed many websites at Ready Artwork and implemented many technical features to help our clients stay up to date with the latest web technology trends. We also designed a structure to best fit their vision of their brand while making a strong web presence. As 2014 comes to an end, our web development team would like to highlight the most important features we have implemented for our clients.

Responsive Design

LACF Responsive Design

Responsive design is a feature that will become standard in creating any websites in the future. Currently, all of your favorite websites have already implemented responsive design. Making your website compatible across all devices is an excellent way to deliver your content to as many people as possible.

Los Angeles County Fair’s (LACF) informational website is the perfect example where it is really useful to display content across any platform so visitors can access the information they need right on their mobile devices. A lot of coordination and pre-planning was crucial between Ready Artwork and LACF IT team to ensure every detail was executed.

Interacting With Your Visitors

Interactivity is a great way to engage your visitors to your website. For this project, the client wanted to have a better experience for their customers by utilizing a slide menu to display all of their food items. It was a great way to captivate and encourage their customers to try different dishes.

We would also like to highlight the interactive map that was implemented. This interactive map displays the description of every venue in the fair so the visitors could get the most out of their stay. As for custom functionality and developing custom functions, the main idea is to develop features that will help the client make their products appeal to their audience. The development team faced many difficult challenges along the way, such as how certain implementations affect the final product. Page loading speed and fitting within the client’s specifications are just to name a few.

A side bar filter was developed to provide their customers with a better way to search through their inventory. In addition, they can make better purchasing decisions based solely on their preferences. The side bar allows customers to filter by color, brand, design, etc. We developed this side bar using AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript). The advantage of it is that it processes the data in the background without interrupting the functions on the existing page. In other words, the customer does not have to wait for the whole existing page to reload to see their products being displayed.

McDonald’s New York Tri State

For this project, one of the challenges we faced was developing the Extra Value Club coupons and the different ways that members can redeem them. We also had to take into consideration the expiration dates. The solution for this challenge was to let the customer use it once they log into their account. From there, they have the option to print the coupon or redeem it in-store using their mobile device. Once the coupon is printed, the system automatically sets an expiration date and certain restrictions to make it a “one-time use” item.

These are some of the most important web technology trends & features that we have worked on for our clients in 2014. We are very proud to have worked closely with our clients to provide the best solution for their problems. As we welcome 2015, we are ready to provide you the best solutions that meet your needs.
