READY ARTWORK X
LA METRO HEAT MITIGATION
Public Sector
A full suite of public-facing campaign materials helping Los Angeles Metro educate riders and communities about heat safety, developed and delivered in time for a live Earth Day launch at Union Station.
THE ASK
Extreme heat is one of the most dangerous climate hazards facing Los Angeles, and the stakes are rising. As the region prepares to host FIFA World Cup 2026 and the 2028 LA Olympics, millions of out-of-town visitors and international travelers will be arriving in a city whose heat they are completely unprepared for. Tourists navigating the Metro system during a heat event, athletes and fans spending hours outdoors, and international visitors unfamiliar with LA’s dry summer intensity all face real risk. Local riders are already among the most exposed, and the incoming wave of global visitors makes the need for accessible, multilingual heat awareness even more urgent.
Ready Artwork was brought in as the design and creative production partner, responsible for translating expert heat mitigation content into polished, accessible, bilingual campaign materials spanning a full guidebook, transit advertising, signage, and event collateral.
WHAT WE DELIVERED
A FULL CAMPAIGN SYSTEM
Heat Mitigation Guidebook
The centerpiece of the campaign. Ready Artwork designed the full guidebook incorporating expert content on heat safety strategies, how to recognize heat illness, cooling resources across LA County, and the role of Metro MVPs in supporting riders during heat events. The guidebook went through multiple rounds of review with Metro Communications, Marketing, the Climate Emergency Mobilization Office (CEMO), and stakeholder partners. ADA color corrections, CEMO name updates, Metro MVP copy revisions, and back cover development were all incorporated before final ADA remediation and print-ready delivery.
Billboards
Large-format billboard advertising extending the heat awareness campaign into the streets of Los Angeles. Bold, high-contrast creative designed to stop attention in high-traffic areas, delivering the campaign message to commuters, pedestrians, and the out-of-town visitors arriving for FIFA 2026 and the 2028 Olympics. Visual system consistent with the broader campaign identity
Bus Shelter Ads
PSA-format shelter ads (“Keep It Cool On the Move, LA Metro”) designed in both English and Spanish. The visual language developed for these ads established the design foundation that carried through to the A-frames and event flyer.
Animated Videos
Bilingual animated campaign videos produced to extend the heat awareness message across digital and broadcast channels. Designed to communicate heat safety tips, Metro resources, and cooling strategies in an accessible, visually engaging format suited for display on Metro screens, social media, and digital out-of-home placements.
Earth Day Event Flyer
Designed for the Heat Awareness campaign public launch at Union Station on Earth Day.
VISUAL SYSTEM
ONE BRAND. EVERY FORMAT.
All campaign materials were designed as a unified visual system, allowing Metro to deploy consistent heat awareness messaging across guidebooks, bus shelters, interior cards, outdoor signage, and digital channels without visual fragmentation.
