88 Keys is a music academy located in the heart of Arcadia, CA. They offer music education in a wide range of instrument for students of all ages.
The client requested a high contrast logo that depicted a musical element and the number “88.” The branding objective was to communicate a striking, yet sophisticated interpretation of musical education.
The creative process began with sketches; after noting a similarity between the number “88” and the musical symbols of treble and bass clefs, the designers based their concept around combining both figures. The finalized logo utilizes positive and negative space to establish a two-tone effect between both digits, drawn to allude to the shape of a treble clef. Red and black colors were chosen to achieve the desired contrast. Finally, a sans serif font compliments the logo by enhancing sophistication and adding a contemporary feel.
