About the Company:

Established in 1968, The Wheel Group (TWG) is a manufacturer and distributor with over 40 years of experience specializing in aftermarket automotive wheels and accessories. They are headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with a network of 16 distribution facilities located in major cities throughout the US and Canada. TWG also has production facilities in China that handle a worldwide customer base that includes USA, Canada, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and Australia.

The Challenge:

The Wheel Group needed an online website that would provide consumers with an online catalog presence, as well as an online shopping website for wholesalers and retailers. The client specifically wanted a multilingual website (French and English) that featured a currency converter for Canadian dollars and US dollars.  The client also needed the website’s CMS (content management system) to integrate with their pre-established in-house accounting system. This would allow the client to have real-time inventory reporting whether using their in-house accounting system or the website’s CMS.  Due to the nature of the client’s products, each rim might have multiple options and configurations, such as size, finish style, material, etc., which would call for a complex product setup on our development.

Ready Artwork’s Solution:

We created a website that was consistent with the client’s existing brand in order for their consumer and wholesaler customers to recognize the already well established brand. We developed a log-in system that will customize the online catalog and online shopping store depending on whether the customer is shopping retail or wholesale.  A regular customer visiting the site will only be able to access a branding site with online catalog capabilities.  However, pre-screened and granted wholesalers/retailers will be able to access the shopping cart features, which allows them to purchase products directly online.

Since the client’s stores and distribution centers are located throughout Canada and the United States, it was necessary to integrate a currency converter into the new website, as well as a multilingual function for both French and English speaking customers. Our CMS provides easy management tools that allows TWG to input both languages quickly. With multiple inventory and account systems, we worked closely with the client’s IT and AR/AP departments to program a script that allows the CMS and the client’s in-house accounting system to automatically exchange database information. The complexity of the products required a unique way of displaying each product, so we designed an easy to use one-page format for viewing each product’s varied styles, fittings and finishes.
