SOUTHWEST WATER COMPANY
SWWC is a multi-state provider of water and wastewater solutions, serving over one million customers and delivering utility-related contract services to 400 clients across seven states. In accordance with the recent mandate, SWWC is diligently working to meet the requirements of WCAG 2.2 and achieve Section 508 compliance.
THE ASK
A multistate water utility company recognizes the importance of addressing genuine concerns related to ADA-compliant web accessibility. In doing so, they are demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that their online presence and services are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related accessibility standards.
THE SOLUTION
We conducted manual testing to uncover ADA-related issues and, working in phases, identified accessibility challenges. Our team comprises seasoned web engineers and UI/UX designers who specialize in crafting user-friendly solutions tailored for individuals with disabilities.
A manual scan was performed on the website to identify technical ADA errors and contrast issues.
Enhance color contrast to address ADA considerations, ensuring clear text and user-friendly navigation.
We replaced areas with insufficient color contrast with new colors that achieve AAA contrast standards while remaining consistent with SWWC’s brand colors.
THE RESULTS
The outcome was impressive, as we successfully addressed and resolved more than thousands of technical and contrast-related ADA issues. This achievement has made the website genuinely accessible, featuring clear text and user-friendly navigation, ultimately improving usability for all users, not only those with disabilities.
